Three Sheets

Trying to stay cool in the basement, with as little movement possible, I surfed on over to Hulu to see what new and exciting show I might discover. What? What's this? A drinking show?

Three Sheets has a pretty basic premise: send a regular Joe around the world to discover the various alcohols and traditions that are used by various cultures around the world in the consumption of said alcohol. Not terribly complicated, but right up my alley. I just watched the first episode, which was filmed on the South Island of New Zealand (one of my top 5 destinations). It was all good, and I suspect I'll be watching a lot more of these.

What I wanna know is: Why didn't I know about this show before?

Gordon Ramsey's back in action!

I love the GR shows, Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares. The new season of HK started last week and based on what I've seen, it's going to be a pretty crazy season.

Put a fork in me, I'm done...

Seattle is currently in the midst of a sweltering heat wave, unlike anything ever experienced before. As I type this, it is currently 8:30 pm and a blistering 95 degrees. I suspect that's pretty damn hot for just about anywhere in the country, but in the Pacific Northwest, it's unheard of.

I'm sitting in the basement, where the temperatures usually range at least 10 degrees cooler than upstairs (where the thermostat reads a balmy 88), but it seems nearly as hot down here.

There was an advantage to being down here the other night as the heat wave started to kick in, but after a couple days of baking, there's very little temperature difference between the two regions. I'm sweating like a pig.

Some forecasters are predicting Seattle may hit 101 tomorrow, higher in the interior regions.

Already looking forward to when it again reaches something manageable, like 85...

I'm Rich! I'm Rich!

Just picked up the mail. One of the envelopes was from our local electric utility and stamped "UNCLAIMED PROPERTY". Well, that already sounds pretty good to me.

I rip open that bad boy and find that there's a balance on a previous account on the condo I sold last year.

How much is my windfall? $88.54.

More than I've made all year, and probably all that I'll make all year...

Finally!

This morning was the first time I felt my son kick. The wife had made earlier attempts to get me to feel him, but each time I laid my hands on her stomach, he'd stop moving.

This morning she had me place my hands on her stomach and after a few seconds, I felt what I thought was a hiccup. It was the boy!
